One person really can make a difference, I know how overwhelming it sometimes feels, but you must remember that one candle still penetrates the darkness. Please note that not everyone shares the same admiration and love for the wolf, and until we can share knowledge and truth, Nature will always be in harms way of Mankind … make your voice heard!! Anyone can help the wolf by keeping informed through reading, classes, and observation. The Internet is a great place to begin this journey. Share your knowledge of the wolves. Get involved with parks or other organizations, and raise money to help these organizations. Volunteer the most precious thing you have, YOUR TIME, to help the wolf. Also, write a lot of letters! Write letters to elected representatives, agencies and others. Write letters of praise and thanks to show appreciation to people who help wolves. Everyone can make a difference! But please note, not every organization and person who says they care about the wolf and/ or the environment does. Use your common sense, read, educate yourself – don’t ever follow the words of others blindly. Your mind is your asset.
Donating your time and skill to an organization is a gift you can give year round and the benefits to both you and the organization are priceless. I volunteer as much as I can to various organizations. Volunteering will get you out of the house and your skills and knowledge will be appreciated. When you make the decision to volunteer I suggest you do a little bit of research. What kind of work do you want to do? How much time can you spare? Try to match your needs and efforts with an organization.
It used to be wiser to try to find something in your area – and while help is always needed locally, if you don’t have an organization nearby that suits your needs don’t be afraid to contact an organization elsewhere. We live in an electronic age, you can do a lot from around the world these days.
If you are lucky enough to have an organization nearby I highly recommend starting there. They most likely need volunteers and it is a good ground breaking position, but be wary, it isn’t glamorous at all, you will be sweating your butt off … but I guarantee if you love animals and the outdoors, you will love every minute of it.
*PLEASE NOTE*
Not all volunteer activities include “hands on” work with animals. Also, not all organization allow volunteers in with animals. Please check each organization out for specifics in their programs.
